The Wisconsin State Bar is holding its annual convention from Wednesday through Friday, May 5-7, at the Modona Terrace Convention Center, 1 John Nolen Drive in Madison.
The three-day event will begin on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m., with programs scheduled until 4:50 p.m. Also, on Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 5:45 p.m., bar president-elect James Boll will be sworn in by Wisconsin Supreme Court Chief Justice Shirley S. Abrahamson, who will address the guests and administer the oath of office.
Thursday's sessions start at 8:45 and end at 5:15 p.m. and will be followed by a volunteer recognition and member networking reception from 6:15 until 7:45 p.m.
On Friday, CLE events will run from 8:30 a.m. until adjournment at 4:05 p.m.
Thursday mornings' Spotlight CLE program at 10:00 a.m. features the keynote speaker, retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, who will discuss her role as the first woman to serve on the Supreme Court and her work as an energetic advocate for preserving fair and impartial courts across the U.S. since her retirement in 2006.
Attendees will have an opportunity to study interesting topics offered as CLE seminars, including domestic partnerships and same sex relationships, green development, business development in the current environment, metadata and redaction in an electronic world, and new energy alternatives.
