On Wednesday, November 9, West LegalEdcenter and the Daily Journal are sponsoring a Western M&A forum to bring together the leading players in the deal community.
It will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Network Meeting Center at Techmart, 5201 Great American Parkway in Santa Clara.
The course covers five general topics: M&A Trends and Outlook for 2012 (what's expected in 2012, and what's driving the market?); Strategic Acquisitions Involving Public Companies (addressing regulatory intervention risks, trends in hostile and contested bids, tender offers vs. mergers, M&A litigation update); Private Company Acquisitions - Process, Issues and Strategy (valuation terms and trends, valuation tactics, employee retention/integration issues, termination rights for outsized risks); Social Media/Cloud/Mobile Spotlight (best talent=best products, M&A coming sooner in target's lifecycle, escalating value of stock due to IPO alternative and secondary market setting currency value, increase in deal competition); Unique Issues in Divestitures and International Deals (what's driving increases in divestitures?); and Pharma/Medical Products Spotlight (will M&A volume surge as timing of FDA approval becomes clearer?).
Among the faculty are Mike Brown, Twitter; David Healy, Fenwick & West; John McPhee, KPMG; Ely Razin, Thomson Reuters Accelus; and Mike Ringler, Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati LLP.
