Recent Developments in Federal Ethics and Lobbying will be presented by the WESFACCA Chapter of ACC on Friday, November 14, from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Woodway Country Club, Darien, CT.
William D. Cotter, vice president, general counsel & secretary, Vista Capital LLC will be joined in the discussion by McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP partners Stefan C. Passantino, Jeffrey P. Altman and William L. Ellis, Jr., the moderator.
They will address the Honest Leadership and Open Government Act of 2007 ("HLOGA") which significantly changed legal requirements for organizations employing lobbyists or retaining outside lobbyists, the increase in federal reporting requirements and new compliance certification requirements. They will explore the issue that mid-sized and smaller corporations, compared with very large corporations, might not have substantial in-house expertise and might even be unaware of how much HLOGA and new congressional ethics requirements have changed the rules for lobbying and contacts with federal legislative and executive branch officials.Official guidance documents have been issued and many practical lessons learned during this first year the new law and rules have been in effect.
