The Westchester/Southern Connecticut Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel will review Online Brand Enforcement and the New Domain TLDs on Tuesday, September 13, at the offices of Kelley Drye & Warren LLP located at 400 Atlantic Street in Stamford, Connecticut. The event begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at noon.
An online presence is essential for a brand owner today, regardless of whether it conducts e-commerce. Brand owners are confronted with online challenges daily, and attempting to stop the challenges may feel overwhelming, as each successful enforcement action is often followed by multiple new infringements.
A panel of experts will share insights and best practices on how to create and implement online enforcement strategies that are cost-effective and produce results. In addition, the program will include a discussion of the implications of the January 2012 application for new gTLD domain names that may feature "dot brands" and "dot keywords." Attendees will learn how to optimize their anti-infringement strategies and take down infringing products from e-commerce sites and how to stop a competitor from purchasing your company's trademarks as keywords for Internet advertising campaigns. Other topics include tips and techniques to manage a domain name portfolio and brand protection techniques for social media.
The speakers are Yuval Marcus and Martin Schwimmer, partners at Leason Ellis LLP; Lauren Bruzzone, senior IP counsel, Global Services, IBM; Colm Dobbyn, group executive, MasterCard Worldwide; and Sean Merrill, trademark counsel, General Electric Company.
