The Virginia Law Foundation is sponsoring the 2010 Virginia Information Technology Legal Institute on Friday, October 8. The seminar will be held at Waterford at Fair Oaks, 12025 Lee Jackson Memorial Highway in Fairfax, Virginia.
It will run from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
The program will provide participants with an update of the legal developments over the past year in information technology law and related areas of intellectual property law that are important for all practitioners.
Attorneys that practice in IP, high technology, computer law, Internet law, software licensing, and e-commerce will learn of the latest developments in these fields.
Topics will include Managing the Legal Risks in Cloud Computing presented by Lora L. Fong of Sales-force.com, who will provide an overview of cloud computing with a focus on security and privacy issues, intellectual property issues and other risks with the latest technology. There will be a segment on Technology Law Developments for IT Practitioners led by J.T. (Jay) Westermeier, a partner at Finnegan Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP, who will cover the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, the City of Ontario v. Quon decision, and information security and open source issues.
Other speakers will include John B. Farmer, Leading-Edge Law Group, PLC; Bradley C. Wright, Banner & Witcoff, Ltd; and James M. McCauley of the Virginia State Bar.
