On Thursday and Friday, August 25 and 26, the University of Texas School of Law has scheduled the 2011 Advanced Texas Administrative Law Seminar at the AT&T Conference Center Hotel in Austin.
It will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
The seminar begins with a case law update by Hon. J. Woodfin Jones, chief justice, third court of appeals in Austin, and Linda B. Secord, Office of the Attorney General. Sessions that follow include governmental immunity - practical issues to be considered when suing a governmental entity; an overview of the 82nd legislative session with Sen. Kirk Watson, Texas State Senate; and updates on the impacts of Sunset and other legislation on the Public Utility Commission, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, the Railroad Commission, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the Water Development Board and the Texas department of Insurance.
Among Friday's topics are Transparency in Government with James E. Cousar, Thompson & Knight LLP and Kimberly A. Frost, Jack Martin & Asociates; a SOAH Update; and a judges panel, in which panelists engage in a round-robin discussion and respond to participants in a Q&A.
