West LegalEdcenter has made available a 53-minute-long program, produced on May 6, 2009, titled The New Look of Antitrust: Implication for Business. Speakers include partners from McDermott Will & Emery, Jon B. Dubrow and Joel R. Grosberg.
They discuss the recent appointments to head the U.S. Department of Justice's Antitrust Division that suggest that the Obama administration will be more aggressive in the enforcement of antitrust laws than its predecessor. Similarly, appointments to head the Federal Trade Commission indicate that agency will continue its robust enforcement of competition and consumer protection laws.
The new leadership of the DOJ and the FTC will have a significant impact on business in the U.S. A variety of issues will be examined including: enforcement of mergers and acquisitions and dominant firm conduct; investigations and challenges to transactions to single-firm conduct; how the FTC will deal with patent litigation settlements and standard setting cases; how the DOJ will deal with cartels; and what businesses can do to prepare for the new DOJ and FTC regimes.
The program has been accredited for CLE hours in most states.
