The University Of Texas School Of Law will host a Conference on Immigration and Nationality Law in San Antonio on Thursday and Friday, October 22 and 23, at the Marriott Plaza.
The event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. on Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. until5 p.m. on Friday.
An optional Wednesday evening session has been scheduled, beginning with registration at 4 p.m. and adjourning at 7:15 p.m.
Among the speakers and topics to be explored are Fixing a Broken System: The Policies and Politics of Immigration Reform with Benjamin E. Johnson of the American Immigration Law Foundation; a panel discussion that addresses the basic eligibility for U Visas, T Visas, and VAWA and a legislative update regarding VAWA 5, moderated by Edna Yang of American Gateways in Austin and with panelists Maurice Y. Hew Jr. of Texas Southern University and Erica Britt Schommer of the Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid. Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, Employment-Based Strategies in an Economic Downturn, Employer-Sponsored Immigrant Visas Via Labor Certification, and Access to Justice Update in Texas are among the other topics that will be discussed.
