The State Bar of Texas has scheduled the Business Torts Institute 2010 on Thursday and Friday, October 28 and 29, at the Westin Park Central Hotel in Dallas.
On Thursday, the program will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on Friday it will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
On Thursday, topics include Breach of Fiduciary Duty in Business Litigation, Business Torts Issues in an Employment Context, and Covenants not to Compete, NDA's and other Employee-related Causes of Action. A panel discussion titled Deposition of a Corporate Representative will be moderated by Michael A. Caddell, Caddell & Chapman, P.C., and include panelists Alan Loewinsohn, Loewinsohn Flegle DearyL.L.P. and Steve Alfonso Chiscano, Gonzalez, Chiscano, Angulo & Kasson, PC. After lunch, Trade Secrets and Misappropriation - Protecting and Enforcing Trade Secrets and Confidential Information in a Digital Age will be discussed by Gales R. Peterson, Cox Smith Matthews.
On Friday, Karl Bayer, Dispute Resolution Expert, will cover Arbitration: The New Litigation? And Lamont A. Jefferson, Haynes and Boone, LLP, will discuss Business Disparagement. Recent appellate business torts opinions, spoliation and legal malpractice, putting brain science principles to work in trial practice, and trademarks and unfair trade practices are among the topics that will be discussed.
