A seminar titled Advanced Mediation: Skills and Techniques is scheduled for Friday, January 30, at the Sheraton Brookhollow, 3000 North Loop West in Houston.
The seminar will begin at 8 a.m. and adjourn at 5 p.m.
Through interactive small-group discussions and lecture presentations and illustrations, attendees will learn to define challenges and successful strategies for mediation and come away with practical skills for encouraging compromise and overcoming impasse in mediation. With a focus on the STAR approach to mediation (Stages, Tasks, Activities, and Results), you will learn repeatable methods used by successful mediators. Lecture topics include Challenges and Opportunities in Mediation, The Ethics of Success: How and When to Handle Power in Mediation, and Innovative Strategies for Unusual Situations.
The scheduled presenters are L. Randolph Lowry, president of Lipscomb University in Nashville, and Peter Robinson, managing director of the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution and associate professor at the Pepperdine University School of Law.
