The University of Texas School of Law has scheduled its annual Labor Law Conference on Thursday and Friday, May 20 and 21, at the Hyatt Regency in Austin.
On Thursday, it will run from 9 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., and on Friday it will run from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
The program offers two tracks, human resources and litigation, on Thursday afternoon.Thursday's luncheon presentation - Federal Health Care Reform: Where Are We Now and What's Ahead for Employers? - a discussion of federal health care reform efforts with attention paid to expected changes for employers and employees under the most likely legislative scenarios, will be offered by Glen A. Reed, King & Spalding LLP. Other topics include trends in labor law, federal employment law update, managing social media, and immigration issues for employers.
On Friday, topics include emerging gender identity issues, a compendium of whistleblower statuses and provisions, employment contracts and severance agreements, including Section 409A., and asserting and defending claims of low-wage immigrant workers.
