On Wednesday, February 24, the San Francisco Bar Association will hold a seminar titled Get Into the Game: Sports Law 101.
It will run from noon until 1:30 p.m. at the BASF Conference Center, 301 Battery Street in San Francisco.
Using a panel discussion format, moderator Owen Seitel, partner with Idell & Seitel, LLP will cover the following topics: realities and misconceptions of a career in sports law; all paths can lead to a career in sports law - how to get into the field; unique aspects of a career in sports law; sports law in the law firm setting v. an in-house/ team setting v. a sports agency; intellectual property in sports law; issues sports law lawyers must deal with, such as copyright, trademark, right of publicity, privacy, complex contract drafting and negotiating, unions, payment structures, news media, and criminal law.
The panelists will include Jack Bair, senior vice president and general counsel, San Francisco Giants; Adam Brezine, partner, Holme, Roberts & Owen, LLP; and Justin H. Bass, managing director, CSI Capital Management.
