Seminar Focus: Ethical Limits Of Email

The DC Bar Association has scheduled a CLE seminar titled Ethics of Email, a session that uses hypothetical scenarios to explore unique issues involving the use of electronic communications and documents by lawyers.

The program will take place on Wednesday, June 11 from 6 to 8:15 p.m. at the DC Bar Conference Center, 1250 H Street, NW, Washington, DC.

This practical class will help participants learn about the ethical limits on using new technologies when communicating with clients and others; the ethical implications of working with service providers and discarding electronic files; the rules governing communications with adversaries (including ex parte contacts, metadata and "unscrubbed" documents, inadvertent transmittal of communications from adversaries, and limits on deceptive conduct); outsourcing of legal work; duty to retain electronic documents when anticipating litigation, and preparing privilege logs for electronic communications.

The speaker will be Thomas Spahn, McGuireWoods LLP.

For information on registration fees and CLE credits, see the Bulletin Board on The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel website at www.metrocorpcounsel.com.
