Sean Carter Takes A Light-Hearted Look At The Law In Colorado Ethics Seminar

On Wednesday, December 22, nationally known speaker and humorist at law Sean Carter will examine ethics in two CLE seminars. In the morning he will present The Ten Commandments for Avoiding Ethical Problems as a Lawyer, and in the afternoon, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Disciplinary Hearing.

The morning session will run from 9:00 a.m. to 11:45 p.m., and the afternoon session will run from 1:00-3:45 p.m. They will be held at the CLECI Large Classroom, 1900 Grant Street in Denver. Attendees may sign up for both or just one session.

In the morning session, Mr. Carter will take a light-hearted look at the practice of law and how attorneys can prevent disciplinary problems, avoid stress, and remain civil and sober. He explains that all too often, legal ethics are filled with convoluted hypos and ethical dilemmas that rarely occur. There are, in fact, very basic things that lawyers must do and not do to avoid disciplinary problems, and he covers these in his Ten Commandments for Avoiding Ethical Problems.

In the afternoon session, Mr. Carter explains that although lawyer civility and congeniality is becoming a thing of the past, it doesn't have to be that way. As legal professionals, lawyers have an obligation to act - professionally. In this humorous presentation, Mr. Carter reminds attendees that zealous advocacy does not require you to be a zealot.
