The Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics has scheduled its annual Compliance & Ethics Institute for four days this fall. It will run from Sunday, September 11, to Wednesday, September 14, at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
This past year has been busy for compliance professionals. The institute is designed to address these difficult issues andincludes discussions about the following topics: tackling social media; dealing with the new whistleblower threats; managing third-party risk; navigating international issues, including bribery and the FCPA; enhancing your standing as the ethics & compliance officer; conducting effective internal investigations; responding to Dodd-Frank; and developing meaningful incentives and metrics. Attendees will be able to choose from 80 sessions by more than 115 speakers, affording a wide range of perspectives. Networking opportunities have been scheduled.
The institute will begin on Sunday at 9:00 a.m. with a pre-conference program that ends at 4:30 p.m., followed by an opening reception and an author's reception until 7:00 p.m.
On Monday, a general session with an address by Rick Harrison from History's Pawn Stars will begin at 8:15 a.m. A second general session, From Prominence to Prison: Why Smart Leaders Do Dumb Things with Patrick Kuhse, will follow. Breakout sessions in four tracks - risk, ethics, case study and advanced discussion group - will run until 5:30 p.m. Tuesday's agenda begins with a general session moderated by Nancy Higgins, vice president & ethics and compliance officer of Bechtel, titled What Your Board Wants to Know about Your Ethics & Compliance Program. A second general session will follow, moderated by Donna Boehme, principal, Compliance Strategists, LLC. Breakout sessions will follow until 5:00 p.m.
On Wednesday, a post-conference program has been planned from 9:00 a.m. to noon, and the CCEP exam has been scheduled from 2:00-4:00 p.m.
