The San Francisco Bar Association will explain what lawyers need to know about insolvency law in the current economic downturn in a lunchtime seminar titled Trouble Has Arrived.
The lunch and program are scheduled for Tuesday, November 18, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the BASF Conference Center in San Francisco.
Speakers Kevin Coleman of Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis, LLP and Andrea Porter of Friedman Dumas & Springwater LLP will discuss the following topics: an overview of the bankruptcy process; doing business with a company in bankruptcy; the impact of bankruptcy on long-term contracts/ leases and license agreements; best practices to avoid "preference claims," and being an officer or director of an insolvent business.
