Join members of the Proskauer Rose firm as they present a Survey of U.S. Immigration Law in 2010: Compliance and Enforcement, Hiring Foreign Workers, Travel Issues and Comprehensive Immigration Reform. The program will be held on Thursday, June 10, at the offices of Proskauer Rose located at 1585 Broadway in New York City.Registration and breakfast begins at 8:00 a.m. and the presentation will run from 8:30 until 10:00 a.m.
The survey will address the immigration gridlock and congressional inactivity that has resulted in the unavailability of professional nonimmigrant work visas such as the H-1B.The panel will discuss the huge backlog in obtaining employment-based immigrant visas and the restrictive policies in place within the government agencies. Participants involved in hiring will learn how to confront compliance issues as states will now enter the vacuum left by the federal government's inaction. The program will also address managing employees who are applicants for permanent residence and quota backlogs; how to prepare a non-U.S. citizen employee who must travel across borders with a security-sensitive environment; and preparing for I-9 inspections, site visits and other immigration paperwork audits.
The speakers will include Christine Alber, David Grunblatt, Avram E. Morell, Valarie H. McPherson, Praveena N. Swanson and Jennifer Wexler of Proskauer Rose LLP.
