\The Practising Law Institute will explore when and how to conduct internal investigations in a seminar titled Internal Investigations 2009: How to Protect Your Clients or Company. The program will run from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.on Tuesday, June 30, at the PLI California Center, 685 Market Street in San Francisco.
In the current market environment, the number of and reasons for internal investigations continues to rise. Professionals involved, including in-house and corporate counsel, internal auditors and compliance officers, and forensic accountants and government attorneys, will therefore want to attend this session, which will walk them through an internal investigation.
Some of the issues that will be discussed are how to conduct an internal investigation, from A to Z; when you should disclose and when you should not; when and how to work with outside experts and investigators; communications with media consultants; latest guidance from the DOJ on "cooperation" and other issues; and the kinds of issues that arise in cross-border investigations.
Among the faculty are Daniel Cooperman, Apple Inc.; Dorian Daley, senior vice president, general counsel, and secretary, Oracle Corporation; Susan Marsch, senior vice president general counsel and secretary, KLA-Tencor Corporation; and Michael S. Dicke, associate regional director of Enforcement, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
