PLI Seminar Focus: Ethics In Banking And Financial Sectors

On Tuesday, July 13, the Practising Law Institute will present a program examining the ethical issues surrounding the banking and financial service industries, especially in the wake of the financial crisis, and what the new regulatory standards being proposed by the Obama administration will mean for attorneys.

The seminar will be located in PLI's New York Center at 810 Seventh Avenue in New York City and will run from 2:00 until 5: 00 p.m.

Attendees will examine the ethical and practical issues for lawyers in an era of overlapping regulatory jurisdictions at the intersection of banking and brokerage regulation. A discussion will look into the ethical responsibilities of legal and compliance professionals in regulated companies, explaining what the duties and potential liabilities of outside and inside counsel are and may become in dealing with client problems. The speakers include C. Evan Stewart, Zuckerman Spaeder LLP; Michael J. Dell, Kramer Levin, Naftalis & Frankel LLP; and Robert C. Hockett, professor of Law at Cornell Law School.
