PLI Reviews Latest Compliance Issues

The Practising Law Institute is offering a seminar focused on the latest developments in corporate compliance highlighting changes to the law during the current administration.Entitled Corporate Political Activities 2009: Complying with Campaign Finance, Lobbying and Ethics Laws, the event will take place on Thursday and Friday, September 24 and 25.

The seminar begins at 9:00 a.m. both days and ends at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and at 4:45 p.m. on Friday and is to be located in the Marriott Renaissance 999, 9th Street NW, Washington, DC.

The new administration is changing the regulations of political contributions from corporations, trade associations and unions thereby making compliance with federal, state and local laws more complex.Congressional ethics laws and the Lobbying Disclosure Act place new responsibilities on clients and companies.These issues will be explained by high-level officials from the Federal Elections Commission, Department of Justice and Congressional ethics committees. The faculty will include Lanny A. Breuer, assistant attorney general, U.S. Department of Justice, Criminal Division; Sue Ellen Dodell, general counsel, New York City Campaign Finance Board; Craig C. Donsanto, director, Election Crimes Branch, U.S. Dept of Justice; Hon. Steven T. Walther, chairman, Federal Election Commission and Nancy Erickson, secretary of the United States Senate.
