The Practising Law Institute will focus on the Fundamentals of Patent Prosecution in 2010 by offering a three-day boot camp program covering the latest developments in claim drafting and amendment writing.
The seminar will be held Wednesday through Friday, July 7 to 9th at PLI's San Francisco Center at 685 Market Street in San Francisco.
The sessions will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. on all three days.
The first day begins with how to take invention disclosures presented by Marc A. Sockol of Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP, who will discuss the ins and outs of taking effective disclosures. An afternoon clinic will allow participants to analyze and draft claims to a sample invention, and these claims will be reviewed with the faculty.
Thursday's topics include an overview of patent prosecution and a look at the common mistakes made during patent prosecution, which will provide attendees with a better understanding of how to avoid these common errors. A second clinic will focus on an amendment problem based on a sample invention. The final day will begin with an update on patent litigation presented by Brandon Baum of Mayer Brown LLP, who will review the Doctrine of Equivalents and the Festo decisions.Other speakers and presenters include Jennifer R.
