Philadelphia Site For Two-Day Business Lawyer's Institute

On Wednesday November 12 and Thursday November 13, The Pennsylvania Bar will present a two-day seminar titled 14th Annual Business Lawyer's Institute. On both days the program will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 4:15 p.m. at the CLE Conference Center, Wanamaker Building, Suite 1010, Philadelphia.

Course planners for this annual event will be Eric L. Brossman, Saul Ewing LLP; the Honorable Joy Flowers Conti, U.S. District Court, Western District; Alice P.L. Schwartz, Independence Blue Cross; and John B. Wright, II, Triumph Group, Inc. The advisory panel will consist of in-house counsel and business lawyers as speakers.

Special opening plenaries will mark both days of the institute. On Wednesday, the Honorable Thomas L. Ambro, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, will discuss "Deepening Insolvency." On Thursday the Honorable Chief Justice Myron T. Steele, Delaware Supreme Court, will present "Institutional Investor Influence on and in the Boardroom through the Constituency Director - a New Paradigm for Corporate Governance?"

Topic choices for the first day of the institute include attorney-client privilege, IP and the internet, an employment law update, handling securities litigation, trademark law for the general business lawyer, international joint ventures, and U.S. Anti-Money laundering and economic sanction laws.

On the second day of the institute, attendees will be able to choose from topics including a corporate litigation update, a review of antitrust issues in licensing and other business transactions, Going Green, trends in corporate governance, lessons from recent significant LLC cases, blogging for lawyers, and legal and business issues for eCommerce in the Web 2.0 world.
