On Thursday, December 16, the Delaware Chapter of ACC (DELVACCA) is offering a CLE Institute on Ethics and Compliance. The seminar will be located at the Union League, 140 South Broad Street in Philadelphia.The program starts at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 11:30 a.m.
The program features three separate sessions focusing on hot topics in ethics and compliance.
Session I is titled Ethical Considerations for In-House Counsel in E-Discovery. A panel will discuss electronic discovery, the electronically stored information explosion, and how to deal with this phenomenon while carefully following the rules of ethics relating to e-discovery. The panelists are Jan Fink Call, counsel, LECG; Debbie Carlos, senior attorney, E-discovery and Litigation, Sunoco, Inc.; and Lisa Goldstein, executive director, Special Counsel.
Session II will focus on Privileged Communications and The Assault on Client Privilege. A panel will review the latest definition of what is privileged communication since the definition of privilege has changed, and what is privileged in one jurisdiction may not be privileged in another. Participants will learn how to avoid pitfalls in this changing and challenging environment. The panelists for this session are Teresa K. D. Currier and Joseph F. O. Dea Jr., Saul Ewing LLP; and George A. Massih, III, vice president and general counsel, Corporation Service Company.
The third and final segment is a discussion of ethics in pro bono activities specific to corporate counsel. Presenters will discuss limited representation rule 6.5, corporate counsel rule 302, conflicts of interest rule 1.7 and malpractice insurance. Attendees will also hear from Kevin Stepanuk, corporate counsel at Exelon, who set up an award-winning pro bono program.
