The Pennsylvania Bar Institute will tackle the basics of employment law on Thursday, August 19, at PBI's CLE Conference Center in the Wanamaker Building in central Philadelphia. The session starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m.
Practitioners who would like a better grasp of the basics of employment law will benefit from this one-day program. Attorneys may also be employers themselves and must learn how to effectively deal with a host of employment matters within their own firms.
Participants will be offered tips on wage and hour law and leaves of absence as they examine the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Family Medical Leave Act. A variety of basic equal employment topics will also be covered such as age discrimination, sexual harassment and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The day will conclude with a practical discussion about enforcement and remedies and the procedures attorneys will need to know when handling the most common employment claims.
The speaker to date is Edward S. Mazurek of The Mazurek Law firm, LLC. Other panelists will be announced. Check the website at www.pbi.org for further information regarding speakers.
