On Friday, August 20, The Pennsylvania Bar Institute is sponsoring a program examining the latest developments in Pennsylvania Oil and Gas Law.
The event will be held at the Washington County Bar Association at 119 South College Street, Washington, PA. The program begins at 9:00 a.m. and will end at 1:30 p.m.
With millions of Americans watching the oil drilling disaster unfold in the Gulf of Mexico, Governor Edward G. Rendell continues to push for his plan asking energy companies that drill for gas in the Marcellus Shale to pay a fair extraction tax. The recent blowout of a Marcellus well in Clearfield County demonstrated the impact that drilling operations can have on the environment and residents of Pennsylvania.
This timely seminar will familiarize participants with the "gold rush" surrounding the gas in Marcellus Shale and the debate over the proposed extraction taxes. The topics will focus on this new and developing area of law in order to aid practitioners in this burgeoning field.
The speakers are Joel R. Burcat, Saul Ewing LLP; Lester L. Greevy, Greevy & Associates; Ross H. Pifer, Dickinson School of Law; Russell L. Schetroma, Culbertson, Weiss, Schetroma and Schug, PC; and Dale A. Tice, Marshall, Parker & Associates, LLC.
