Pennsylvania Bar Examines Layoff Litigation

On Wednesday, January 13, the Pennsylvania Bar Institute is holding a topical CLE seminar titled Layoff Litigation - Issues to know in a Rough Economy.

The program will begin at noon and end at 4:30 p.m. and is located at PBI's Professional Development Center, Heinz 57 Center, 339 Sixth Avenue, Pittsburgh.

Attendees will hear of the impact that layoffs have had on litigation cases arising from massive layoffs. The program will explore the perspectives of the employee and the employer, how to handle layoffs in order to prevent litigation, and what to do if and when litigation occurs. The seminar will also delve into key issues such as the proper handling of a layoff, how business can protect itself during a layoff, why employees engage in litigation after a layoff, and finally ethical issues counsel need to know when assisting clients handling a layoff.
