The Pennsylvania Bar Institute is hosting a seminar titled Social Media in the Workplace: Facebook, Twitter, foursquare and Other Web 2.0 Sites. It will be held Thursday, August 18, in the PBI Professional Development Conference Center at 339 Sixth Avenue in Pittsburgh.
Social networking is permeating the workplace like never before. PBI will review the rights and responsibilities of employers and employees in this age of easy technology. In this course the faculty will explore the latest Web 2.0 applications with a demonstration of technology showing Twitter, Foursquare and other hot new sites. The faculty will walk participants through a number of scenarios with examples of Web 2.0 postings, which will help attendees determine what type of posts may trigger the firing of an employee, and what are non-offensive posts. The faculty will teach participants how to control employees' use of Web 2.0 and discuss how an employer may or may not compel an employee to have a presence on a Web 2.0 site to further the employer's business.
Among the faculty are Larry Besnoff, Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel LLP; Todd J. Shill, Rhoads & Sinon LLP; Sally Griffith Cimini, Leech Tishman Fusaldo & Lampl, LLC; and John R. Johnson, The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc.
