Panel Discussion: Pharma Legal And Business Issues

The Fordham University School of Law has scheduled an evening panel discussion titled Key Legal and Business Issues for Wednesday, December 2, at the McNally Amphitheatre and Platt Atrium, 140 West 62nd Street, New York.

The program will run from 5 to 8 p.m. Attendees are invited to meet the speakers at a reception from 5 to 6 in the Platt Atrium; the discussion will follow at 6 p.m. Both the program and reception are complimentary, and registration is encouraged.

The panel, which will be moderated by Hugh Hanter, professor at Fordham Law School, and include speakers John Richards, Ladas & Parry, and David Manspeizer, chief patent counsel, Wyeth,will discuss the numerous constraints, including legal and scientific, associated with patenting new drugs and "evergreening" existing drugs. They will explore how concerns about patents influence near- and long-term business strategies; the effect of the proposed Hatch-Waxman legislation on the continued development and marketing of biologics; and the economic impact of generic manufacturers' "launch at risk" strategies.
