NYCLA Reviews Brand Protection In Social Media

The New York County Lawyers Association has planned a seminar titled Friends Don't Let Friends Steal Your Intellectual Property - Brand Protection in Social Media.

The event will be held on Tuesday, September 13, at NYCLA, 14 Vesey Street in lower Manhattan. It begins at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 9:30 p.m.

A panel of experts will discuss using social media to successfully build brand identity. Participants will learn about business strategies employed by companies to protect their intellectual property and ways to respond when that brand is compromised, including how to respond, when to respond, and how and when to deal with cybersquatting. The faculty will pay close attention to the relevant laws and case law in the realm of social media and intellectual property.

The speakers are Allan R. Pearlman and Natalie Sulimani, co-chairs, NYCLA Cyberspace Committee; Andrew Berger, Tannenbaum Helpern Syracuse & Hirschtritt LLP; Sarah Feingold, Etsy, Inc.; and James Grimmelman, New York Law School, Institute for Information and Law Policy.
