The New York County Lawyers' Association (NYCLA) is hosting the 12th annual "FINRA Listens... and Speaks" free public forum on Monday, February 7, at 5:00 p.m. at the Home of Law, 14 Vesey Street. The speakers are Katherine M. Bayer, regional director, and Rachel D. Glasgow, deputy regional director of the Northeast Region of FINRA Dispute Resolution.
Although the program has no fixed agenda, Ms. Bayer and Ms. Glasgow will discuss recent initiatives, including expanding the number of arbitrators on each selection list; revising the arbitrator disclosure report; allowing payment of fees when filing a claim online; allowing attorney representation of nonparties in the arbitration; revising the criteria used to select a hearing location; granting movants a right to reply; proposed rules allowing investors to opt for an all-public arbitration panel; allowing arbitrators to make referrals during the arbitration proceedings; and the proposed new discovery guide. As usual, Ms. Bayer and Ms. Glasgow will field questions from the audience.
Martin L. Feinberg, a member of NYCLA's Arbitration and ADR Committee, is the longtime moderator of the free forum.
