NYC Seminar Focuses On The Impact of Dodd-Frank On Hedge Funds

The New York City Bar presents Hedge Funds in the Current Environment: The Impact of Dodd-Frank & More. The program is on Friday, May 6, at the New York City Bar, 42 West 44th Street in New York City. The seminar begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 1:00 p.m.

As a result of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, many previously unregistered hedge fund managers will now have to register with the SEC. In addition, new regulations on swaps and derivatives will have a significant effect on trading by hedge funds. SEC and other enforcement actions against hedge funds and new incentives for whistleblowers have created an increased risk environment for hedge fund managers.

The course will provide an overview of the current and proposed rules related to the above and other areas involved in operating a hedge fund. Faculty will discuss how to avoid problems in the enforcement environment and provide best practices for protecting hedge fund advisers from liability.

The speakers are Nora Jordan, Davis, Polk & Wardwell LLP; Jonathan M. Mayers, counsel, Renaissance Technologies LLC; Michael Huber, vice president, Goldman, Sachs & Co.; and Norm Champ, deputy director, Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, NY regional office.
