Tax"ing" and Troubled Times: Tax Planning and Advice for Today's Businesses has been scheduled by the NY City Bar Association for Friday, November 7 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the House of the Association, 42 West 44th Street, NYC.
As the economy enters more troubled times, it is important to reorient our tax thinking to address the tax issues presented by distressed transactions. The panel, chaired by Carolyn Joy Lee of Jones Day, will outline basic federal principles, and explore recent federal legislation in the area. This discussion will be followed by one that is not often covered - state and local tax traps that practitioners need to be sensitive to in planning and implementing transactions in troubled times.
