Norris McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A. will be presenting a breakfast seminar titled "Fiduciary Oversight: A Process & Approach to Best Practices" on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Norris McLaughlin & Marcus' Bridgewater office from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.Charles A. Bruder, a member of the firm and co-chair of its Executive Compensation & Employee Benefits Group, and Scott Rappoport, chief executive officer of Benefit Sources & Solutions, will be holding a panel discussion concerning the duties and responsibilities of the fiduciaries of tax-qualified retirement plans.
Topics to be addressed during the seminar include a review of recently enacted fiduciary legislation, fiduciary identification and administrative aspects, and best practices for fiduciaries and plan sponsors. Attendees will also have an opportunity to ask the panel questions regarding fiduciary oversight.
Mr. Bruder explained, "This seminar is intended for accountants and tax professionals to assist them in providing the necessary level of guidance to their clients who may sponsor arrangements which invoke fiduciary duties and responsibilities. Oftentimes, clients (and their advisors) may not even be aware of such requirements, or may unwittingly accept responsibility for fiduciary duties without the requisite knowledge of the scope and proper discharge of such duties."
