Scheduled for Friday, September 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at One Constitution Square, New Brunswick, this arbitration training course is designed for those who have already served as arbitrators, as well as those wishing to apply for future admission to the roster.The course will satisfy the requirement of R.1:40-12(c)(1). After this three hour initial requirement is completed, court-approved arbitrators will have to complete two additional hours of training every two years.
The speakers, Robert E. Marqulies, Margulies Wind; Richard H. Steen, R.H. Steen, LLC; Michelle V. Perone, chief, Civil Court Programs, Administrative Office of the Courts in Trenton, and Russell M. Woods, Law Office of Russell M. Woods, will provide arbitrators with valuable skills and techniques that can be used to fairly and effectively arbitrate cases.
The attendees will gain an understanding of the types of cases currently being referred to arbitration under the New Jersey Court-Annexed Civil Arbitration Program, statutory requirements and court rules, the authority of the arbitrator, conflicts and disclosure, managing the hearing and the arbitration award.
