New York County Lawyers Association has scheduled a program discussing race and the Constitution. The event will be held on Tuesday evening, February 23, from 6:00 to 8:05 p.m. at the New York County Lawyers Association, 14 Vesey Street in New York City.
The distinguished speaker is Professor Gloria J. Browne-Marshall, author of Race Law and American Society; she is also associate professor of constitutional law at John Jay College and was formerly a civil rights attorney for the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc.
Dr. Browne-Marshall will discuss how the provisions of the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence were not always applied equally and in fact were even used against the interests of minorities. She will explain the history of misinterpretation of these documents and the impacts that have affected race relations in the U.S.
All attendees will receive a copy of Professor Browne-Marshall's annotated U.S. Constitution.
