New York City Bar Offers Women In Negotiation Skills Course

The New York City Bar presents a video replay of Women in Negotiation: Practical Tips to Strengthen Your Negotiation Skills (For You and Your Clients).

It will be held on Monday, August 9 at the Association of the Bar, 42 West 44th Street in New York City. The seminar begins at 9:30 a.m. and will end at 12:30 p.m.

Participants of either sex will learn effective negotiation skills during this interactive discussion. They will learn the differences between the way men and women communicate, their negotiating styles, attitudes toward conflict and differing ways of processing information. Panelists will use humor and offer practical tips necessary to become a highly effective negotiator or mediator. Attendees will explore gender-specific behaviors that undermine power in negotiation and learn how to equalize perceived power imbalances. Each attendee will learn how to apply these skills to everyday situations for themselves and their clients.

Instructors include Pamela R. Esterman, Sive, Paget & Riesel; Kathy J. Holub, lecturer in law, Columbia Law School; and Hon. Kathleen A. Roberts, mediator arbitrator, JAMS (ret.) U.S. Magistrate judge, Southern District of New York.
