On Monday, January 26, MCLE will sponsor a program titled Nanotechnology: Cutting Edge Issues to be held at the MCLE Conference Center, 10 Winter Place, Boston from 1 to 5 p.m.

Just as nanotechnology cuts across many scientific fields, it raises legal issues cutting across many disciplines.

To present these issues, legal practitioners, chaired by Gabor Gerai of Foley & Lardner LLP, will include Thomas J. Engellenner, Nutter McClennen & Fish LLP; Kimberly B. Herman, Sullivan & Worcester LLP; F. Mark Modzelewski, Bang Ventures; and Chinh H. Pham, Esq., Greenberg Traurig LLP.

The audience will learn the basic principles and applications of nanotechnology; current efforts to define and protect the intellectual property encompassed by this technology; federal and state laws and initiatives to regulate nanotechnology developments; the key legal risks and issues including health, safety, and privacy concerns, and their possible solutions; the connection between nanotechnology and alternative energy; the special issues involved in financing new businesses in this field; and current successes and failures of businesses utilizing nanotechnology.
