MBA Schedules Annual Labor And Employment Conference

The Massachusetts Bar Association has scheduled its 29th Annual Labor and Employment Law Spring Conference for May 13 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Colonnade Hotel, 120 Huntington Avenue, Boston.

Among the speakers will be Robert A. Fisher, Foley Hoag LLP; Markus L. Penzel, EEOC, Boston; Peter J. Moser, Robinson & Cole LLP.

The opening panel presentation, Evidentiary Issues in the Labor Arbitration Context, will include a discussion on the legal bases for obtaining and enforcing arbitral subpoenas; making effective use of information requests; and conflicts between orders to produce information and privacy interests contained in law or regulation, such as the prohibition of the use of information obtained in unemployment proceedings.

Implicit Bias and Stereotyping: Theory and Practice will explain the theoretical underpinnings of the notion that implicit bias often motivates actors in the workplace, and explore how these insights influence the enforcement of anti-discrimination laws.

The closing panel, Survey of Employment Law Development, will ensure that the audience did not miss any important development from 2007 and early 2008.
