On Friday, October 29, the Los Angeles County Bar Association will cover the latest in securities regulations in its Annual Securities Regulation Seminar at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel, 506 South Grand Ave. in Los Angeles.
The program will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with registration and breakfast beginning at 8:00 a.m.
The seminar brings together top Washington and regional Securities and Exchange Commission officials, together with representatives of other regulatory agencies and private practitioners, who will present a comprehensive review of current events and developments in the field. Among the speakers are Preston DuFauchard, commissioner, California Department of Corporations; Michael C. Kelley, Sidley Austin LLP; Robert S. Khuzami, director, Division of Enforcement, SEC; Christopher Mead, managing director, Banc of America Securities; and Barbara E. Mathews, associate general counsel and chief governance officer, Southern California Edison Company.
Topics to be covered in the morning include the Dodd-Frank Act and Regulatory Reform and the recent developments in securities laws. The first breakout session offers a corporation finance roundtable, responding to corporate crises, or recent developments in mergers & acquisitions. The afternoon breakout session offers debt and equity financing, litigating with the SEC, or the FCPA. The luncheon speaker is Elisse B. Walter, commissioner of the SEC.
