The Los Angeles County Bar Association will continue its series of Wednesday roundtable discussions with three topics scheduled in February and March.
All will be held at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel, 251 South Olive Street in Los Angeles, with dinner and reception from 6 to 7 p.m. and the program from 7 to 9 p.m.
On Wednesday, February 11, the topic is The Role of Corporate Counsel in an Era of Financial Turmoil presented by Robert G. van Schoonenberg, general counsel, Law Partners, and former executive vice president, chief legal officer & secretary of Avery Dennison Corporation.
On Wednesday February 25, Apalla Chopra of O'Melveny & Myers LLP will lead a discussion titled Employment Law in a New Business Era, including reductions in work force, wage and hour laws, noncompetition agreements, and recent changes in ADA.
On March 11 the discussion topic is Wholesale Revamping of Regulatory and Tax Systems in a Changing Business and Financial Environment, and it will include the future of Sarbanes- Oxley and the SEC, the tax system, corporate governance, risk management and compliance departments in the new world of business, and $150 billion oversight.
