The Practising Law Institute will broadcast their two-day live New York City program, New Developments in Securitization 2008, to the Pennsylvania Bar Institute's CLE Conference Center, Wanamaker Building, Suite 1010, Philadelphia. As the credit crunch continues to roil the capital markets, the securitization world is facing enormous challenges. Many transactions have been downgraded and have suffered unforeseeable losses, new issuances are at historic lows and investor confidence has been devastated. In this PLI program attendees will receive an intensive and comprehensive introduction and update on what solutions are being pursued in the market and what legislative and regulatory actions and initiatives are underway.
Key topics to be addressed and about which attendees will learn include new legislative and regulatory proposals on mortgage servicing reform, Basel II implementation, ASF Project RESTART, the death of QSPEs and other FAS 140 changes. A research perspective on trends in securitization will provide an overview of the year's activities, issuance volumes, credit quality trends, lessons from the credit crunch and prospects for 2009. New developments in mortgage backed securities and traditional ABS will be presented, as well as CDOs and SIVs; litigation bankruptcy and trustees; securitization accounting developments; tax developments in securitization; and a review of esoteric ABS.
The seminar will be chaired by Gary Barnett, Linklaters LLP and will include James J. Croke, Jr., Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP; Patrick D. Dolan, Dechert LLP; Andrew M. Faulkner, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP; Cristal E. Jones, Standard & Poor's; Stuart M. Litwin, Mayer Brown LLP; Jonathan E.
