On Tuesday, June 8, The Lawyers Alliance for New York is offering Incorporation, Tax Exemption and Fiscal Sponsorship - a workshop for those interested in forming a nonprofit organization.
The workshop will begin at 9:00 a.m. and adjourn at 11:00 a.m. and is located at the Lawyers Alliance, 171 Madison Avenue in New York City.
Attendees interested in learning about the formation of a nonprofit organization will learn of the challenges of getting off to the right start and the difference this makes between success and failure.They will get a review of the basic questions regarding incorporation and tax-exempt status, learn the requirements and procedures for qualification in New York State, and learn the importance of by-laws for a new organization. The workshop will explore the benefits of federal tax-exemption and the process for seeking that recognition, including the requirements for charitable purpose and charitable class, and the fiscal aspects of the reporting process for the not-for-profit corporation.
The speakers will feature various volunteers from the Lawyers Alliance of New York.
