On Thursday January 14, join the Lawyers Alliance for New York as they present Incorporation, Tax Exemption, and Fiscal Sponsorship of not-for-profit companies.
The seminar will be held at the Lawyers Alliance, 171 Madison Avenue in New York City, and will begin at 6:00 p.m. and adjourn at 8:00 p.m.
Any lawyer interested in forming or representing a not-for-profit would benefit from participating in this program. Attendees will learn how to get a non-profit off to the right start, which may mean the difference between success and failure. The workshop will review the basic questions regarding the benefits and obligations of incorporation and tax-exempt status, explain the requirements for qualification as a not-for-profit, and the importance of bylaws for any new non-profit. Participants will learn all aspects of the non-profit application process.
The program will review the requirements of charitable purpose and a charitable class, the need to project specific revenues and expenses, and the limitations on lobbying and political activities.
