LACBA, ABA Offer IP Meets The Pacific Rim

On Tuesday, September 20, the LACBA International Law Section and the ABA Section of International Law have scheduled a day-long seminar - IP Meets the Pacific Rim: Cross-Border Branding in an Era of Multi-Platform Licensing, Privacy and Trade Secrets.

It will run from 8:15 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the bar association, 1055 West 7th Street, 27th Floor, Los Angeles. An evening reception will follow from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

In the morning, a panel discussion, Proprietary Rights, IP and the Internet: Channeling Corporate Brands and Famous Marks, will be moderated by Corey Field, Ballard Spahr LLP and include Marianne Grant, senior vice president, Motion Picture Association of America and Michele J. Woods, U.S. Copyright Office. Cross-border Challenges in Licensing, Managing, and Controlling Intellectual Property will be moderated by David Green, senior attorney, Trademark & Copyright Group, Microsoft, with Mark Finkelstein of Jones Day, among the panelists.

At lunch, the Deputy Director of ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and the deputy director of the USPTO in Washington, DC, are slated to speak.

In the afternoon, Global World of IP Damages (realities of recoveries and remedies for infringement) and Enforcement and Policy - treaties and public international law will be discussed.
