On Thursday, June 17, the Los Angeles County Bar Association will discuss The Future of Big Law: Business as usual or a New Paradigm? in an evening seminar.
It will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Bar Association, 1055 West 7th Street, 27th Floor in Los Angeles.
The legal industry is evolving rapidly as a result of recent economic turmoil and other market forces. Some argue that no business has been more affected by this upheaval than "big law" - the practice of law at the country's largest firms. To this end, Los Angeles County Bar has put together a panel of large law firm partners, general counsel, and experts in the industry to address some of the challenges facing large law firms. Among the topics under discussion are the growing demand for alternative billing arrangements, the nature of those arrangements, the consequences of failing to consider alternative arrangements, pressures on the firm structure and how those pressures may affect partners and associates, outsourcing legal and nonlegal services, and the need to balance high-quality work with efficient work.
