Jones Day has announced that Antonio "Tony" Dias will serve as the Partner-in-Charge of the Firm's Miami Office.
With nearly 30 years of experience in representing corporate America, Mr. Dias co-leads Jones Day's global Financial Institutions Litigation & Regulation Practice, which handles complex traditional and emerging legal issues facing the financial industry. As a Jones Day partner for nearly 20 years, most recently in the Firm's Washington Office, Mr. Dias has defended companies from a wide variety of industries facing litigation, regulatory challenges, and investigations across the United States, Latin America, Europe, and Asia. In particular, he leads the Firm's work for companies and industries targeted by state attorney general multi-state investigations. Mr. Dias' experience includes high-profile matters which have involved concurrent state, federal, congressional, multinational, and media investigations and litigation.
"Having maintained a varied and worldwide litigation, regulatory, and investigations practice in many bet-the-company matters, Tony brings proven leadership talents on client and Firm matters to his new role," said Luis Riesgo, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day's Latin America/Miami region. "With offices in Miami, Madrid, Mexico City, and São Paulo, we are among the strongest global firms in the region, and this appointment reinforces Jones Day's collaborative way of serving clients by sharing experience across practices and geographic areas."
Jones Day's Miami Office opened in 2013 as part of its commitment to the rapidly growing Latin America market and its substantial litigation work in the state of Florida for more than 20 years. The Miami Office now has more than 30 lawyers, many of whom are Miami natives, and advises a wide range of U.S., Latin American, and other multinational clients in a variety of sectors—such as energy, health care, financial services, infrastructure, and manufacturing—on domestic and cross-border matters.
"At Jones Day, we are committed to providing clients with excellence in legal service globally. Our Miami Office is made up of some of the finest lawyers anywhere, all of whom seamlessly collaborate with our lawyers around the world to serve our clients as One Firm Worldwide," said Mr. Dias. "Miami is a global city and Jones Day is a global law firm. I am excited to become part of this vibrant city, and to support Miami's corporate community and the development of Miami's role in the growth of Latin America. Our Miami Office represents the best of Jones Day from transactions to litigation. We are honored to be held in such high regard by our clients and look forward to continue that tradition of service while we also continue to attract the best in legal talent."
Mr. Dias serves in leadership positions in a number of organizations, including the Allegheny College Board of Trustees, Board of Directors of The Embassy Series in Washington, The United States Conference of Mayors Business Council, the Civil Justice Association of California Board of Directors, and Advisor to the National Organization of African Americans in Housing.
