The International Centre for Dispute Resolution is offering a three-day seminar, The Annual International Arbitration Conference, on Wednesday to Friday, September 14-16. This years' conference will be at the Biltmore Hotel, 1200 Anastasia Avenue in Coral Gables, Florida. Day one begins at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 5:00 p.m., day two begins at 8:45 a.m. and ends at 5:45 p.m., day three starts at 9:00 a.m. and the conference adjourns at noon.
This year the conference will feature the results of the ICDR's groundbreaking Dispute-Wise Business Management study on how European in-house counsels are using arbitration effectively. The study was commissioned by the American Arbitration Association and the ICDR to gather empirical data on the use of alternative dispute resolution in business. The results support what many have claimed are the benefits of using dispute resolution to resolve commercial disputes.
The conference will also feature a virtual tour of the Americas to update international practitioners on ADR trends and developments in Latin America. This segment is a panel discussion moderated by Jose I. Astigarraga of AstigarragaDavis. It will cover key legal and practice developments pertaining to Latin America on a country-by-country basis. The panel includes Diana C. Droulers, Arbitration Centre of the Caracas Chamber of Commerce; David Lindsey, Chaffetz Lindsey; and Stephen L. Drymer, Ogilvy Renault.
Among the speakers are William K. Slate, II, president and CEO, AAA and ICDR; Mark W. Friedman, Debevoise & Plimpton; J. Brian Casey, Baker & McKenzie; Arif Hyder Ali, Crowell Moring; and Jennifer Price, King & Spalding.
