On Thursday, April 15, the Bar Association of San Francisco will offer Insurance 101: What Every In-House Lawyer Needs to Know from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the bar's conference center, 301 Battery Street in San Francisco.
Raymond Sheen and Brian McDonald, both of Jones Day, will give attendees an overview of types of insurance that companies typically carry, primarily third-party liability policies, including general liability, errors and omissions, directors and officers, and employment practices. Other topics they will cover include tendering claims to insurers, understanding the insurer's duty to defend or reimburse, strategies for obtaining prompt payments from insurers, bad faith liability, and an update on recent developments in insurance law.
A podcast of this program will be available on April 26.
