Immigration Topics Explored In San Diego Brown Bag Lunch Program

The San Diego ACC Chapter has scheduled its June brown bag lunch program, Immigration Compliance and Enforcement in 2010 and Beyond, on Thursday, June 3, at AMN Healthcare, 12400 High Bluff Drive in San Diego.

Immigration enforcement has dramatically increased, with Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano recently affirming an employer-focused enforcement strategy. It is no longer sufficient for employers simply to react to the government's actions; they must be proactive in developing robust immigration compliance programs or face serious consequences.

This discussion with Gary Perl and Karine Wenger, Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy, LLP, will include I-9 audits, unannounced and scheduled visits by ICE, expansion of the e-verify program, increased scrutiny of visa petitions and related files, and legislative proposals impacting immigration enforcement.
