Immigration Law Update Topic Of Two-Day Seminar

On Thursday and Friday, February 24 and 25, the State Bar of Texas will offer an Advanced Immigration Law Course to provide practitioners with developments in the laws surrounding immigration.

It will be held at the Crowne Plaza River Oaks, 2712 Southwest Parkway in Houston. Immigration Law 101 will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. the day before in the same location.

The 101 course offers the basics, such as an overview of the U.S. immigration laws, temporary and non-immigrant visas, citizenship and naturalization, and detention and removal.

The conference will use a panel discussion format to cover such topics as Immigrant Victims of Serious Crimes; Inadmissibility and Waivers in Employment, Family and Asylum Cases; Obtaining and Maintaining Citizenship; and Mock Removal Hearing.

On Thursday morning, Nancy Taylor Shivers of Shivers & Shivers will moderate a discussion about new developments in PERM, and on Friday, Terry Weir of Dunbar Harder will moderate a discussion titled Emerging Issues in Employer/ee Relationships. Panelists Kathleen Campbell Walker, Cox Smith Matthews and Gary Endelman, BP America Legal Group, will participate.
